As every collectors know , Japanese love limited items . The more limited , the best . But for us foreigners , it doesn't make sense when
you think that a company could produce as many items as they can sell , even more when you see the extreme demand and the resellers
using this opportunity to buy as much as they can to resell them on the second market twice the price and even 3 time the price if it is a popular
doll . Of course , I am mostly aware of what is going on in the Volks Dollfie Dream world , but I see it too with most limited anime products.
But things are changing for the best , Volks is more and more aware of their Westerners customers and started making more outfits , which became extremely expensive on the second market .
The fact that Volks offer Pre-orders now on their most popular character's dolls is a big relief for most collectors . They still do ''lottery''
which allow you to enter to get a ''chance '' to buy a more limited Dollfie Dream character , but this is already a huge improvement compare
to when I started collecting 8 years ago .
In the last 5 years we saw the opening of the Asians markets , which helped most of us getting supplies , doll props and furnitures for all sizes
of ball jointed dolls.
But what I wanted to talk about here is the Cerberus Project girls . Last year at the Wonder Festival , a collaboration between the big resin
BJD's company ''Fairyland '' and Cerberus project created 2 characters of the Anime series Love !Live ! . They made only 20 of each characters
because of a copyright issue .
When I saw a Minami Kotori on Rinkya ( a third party buyer for Japan stores) , I didn't know anything about the project , but I felt in love with her
instantly and as the price was fairly good , I bought her right away .
When I started to research about her , I learned about how limited she was O_O I was shocked ! I own number 16 of a doll that there are only 20 on the planet and she didn't cost me a fortune ????? Why ???
She is extremely beautiful , her head sculpt is amazing , different from anything I've seen before ! The face-up is perfect .
Why didn't fight each other to get this beauty ?
The only answer I can find is , she is in RESIN. I knew resin bjd collectors don't like vinyl doll collectors , don't ask me why , I think it is totally
stupid , but I would never have guessed that Anime doll collectors would discriminate so much those dolls because they were made of resin .
After all , most anime lovers collect plastic and PVC figures that cost a lot of money and that you cannot pose ...
Last month , another Wonder Festival took place , and 2 other characters from Love!Live! were released ! And guess what ? You can still find some on Rinkya ...this is a mystery to me .
I will leave you on that thought and share some pictures of my beautiful Minami Kotori .
Share the love for dolls !
